Title: Keep Libraries Weird: Inviting Everyone to the Party

Section program: 27

Cosponsors: History of the Health Sciences Section, Technical Services Section, Medical Informatics Section, Molecular Biology and Genomics SIG

Program contact: Lisa K. Traditi, AHIP

Program format: Contributed

Description: Do you have to be a librarian to work in a library? We think not…and many libraries are proving the point by recruiting scientists, statisticians, grant-writers, archivists, historians, informaticians, programmers, and others onto the library team. This session is designed to provide a breadth of views on how nonlibrarians are adding value to libraries and the communities we serve. We are interested in hearing about nonlibrarians providing public service of any kind.

Sponsored by Public Services Section

Title: Libraries, Adult Learners, and SOTL, Oh My!

Section program: 28

Cosponsors: Educational Media and Technologies Section, Libraries in Curriculum SIG, Medical Library Education Section

Program contact: Lisa K. Traditi, AHIP

Program format: Contributed

Description: In today’s world, librarians must remain pertinent to their campuses or organizations. How are librarians working with their campuses’ teaching and learning scholarly community to improve graduate and undergraduate education? Are we still teaching our faculty and students like it’s 1999? Where does instructional design fit into this picture? How can we improve our own teaching and work with faculty to add to the scholarship of teaching and learning (SOTL)? Topics of interest include adult learners, SOTL, and instructional design.
